Abstract

This work presents a description of the morphosyntactical and semantic levels of Chilean Spanish periphrastic expressions, with the “estar que + verbal phrase” structure and imminence aspect value. The purpose of this article is to find characteristics that allow to posit their degree of grammaticalization.

The analysis shows clear morphosyntactical and semantic differences with respect to similar constructions described by some Spanish grammars; these differences allow positing this construction as a whole of one meaning
