Development of Modern Theatre in Colombia: Experimental Groups in 1940 and 1960

Abstract
This essay claims that the beginning and development of Modern Theater in Colombia was given mainly due to the work of experimental groups that started to emerge by the end of 1950 and the middle of 1960. The article focuses on the way in which Modern Theater has been characterized throughout history. Different kinds of developments will be examined, describing the former theatrical activity in Colombia, and establishing a relationship between the creative activity of these experimental groups and their need to create far reaching bonds.
