Abstract
This letter to Pero Vaz de Caminha, the first Portuguese explorer to reach Brazil, presents the transformations that have taken place since the arrival of the Portuguese to the land until today. The text synthesizes the trajectory of destruction and violence stemming from the process of colonization, above all against indigenous peoples, peoples of African descent, and traditional communities.
