Abstract

This article undertakes the relationship between the cultural production of urban imaginaries and contemporary artistic practices. For this purpose it takes into account the large scale aspects of Latin American cities and its main argument consists in defining and contextualizing the capacity of art (if we consider art as a tool to politicize subjectivity) to be used as a pertinent strategy of micro-political agency and redefinition of the public space. Moreover, this article criticizes some of the curatorial paradigms, which have transformed Latin American cities into laboratories for delivering speeches on current global urbanity
