The silent faces of chilean cinema
Main Article Content
Abstract
In contrast to the typical communication devices of the 19th Century, the article analyses one of the new public locations that bursts into the scene at the turn of the 20th Century in Chile. These devices are now based on the new powers of empathy, expressiveness or the fascination caused by the «stars» of silent films. The article suggests that these «faces», unknown in previous communication sceneries, will help to change the geographies between «public» and «private» spaces.
