Arte y Transfiguración

Abstract

In the Arts the processes of aesthetic transfiguration of images express the spiritual nature of human creativity. In this area, aesthetic transfiguration acts even upon what in the world of experience we deem disfigured or ugly. Thus, in this process the artist reveals to us human frailties and defects by virtue of the aesthetic quality of his creation. One tendency of a certain kind of contemporary art is to express negative values by mere descriptions prompted by a nihilistic or a morbid outlook on li fe and an interest in pornography. In these kinds of work the process of transfiguration does not take place and the opportunity of a more profound understanding of contempory man is also lost.
