Abstract
Gabriela Mistral's ecological view of the world is based upon a conception of reality in which its material, psychic and spiritual components are integrated forming an indivisible whole. For Mistral, ecology does not only mean a concern for all living creatures, but for all that exists. In her work , the entire universe is supported by the trascendent and transfiguring spirit which calls manto embrace an ethical and aesthetic vocation in which admiration and respect for and solidarity with the entire universe precedes and goes far beyond our contemporary concept of ecology.
