Abstract
Martin Scorsese is one ofthe mostprestigious authors ofpresent-dayfilm-making. The conceptual spissitude ofher movies. His style is defined in a rigorous and personal construction. The diversity ofrelations to cinematic traditions, are constant referents in his works; they are some of the contributions offered throughout his extensive filmography.
The poetics of violence. Its postulation asform oflife. Personal experiences presented as prívate codes of information. His religious concerns. The cinematic work as a
reflection ofhis own language.
Suchfactors are described in the présent article, as elements inherent in Scorsese 's work, whichfindin his movie Mean Streets (1973), a model ofexemplification.
