Abstract

This article is based on a paper presented by the author in the 51 International Conference ofLatin American Studies (2003). It deals with the renewed and recurrent presence ofthe «crook» in current Chilean and Latin American cinema; it also considers an easthetics of «oblique expression», characteristic of this tradition which articulates itself symbolically and formally through the «detail» and the «fragment».
