Approach and scope
Scope and editorial policy
The journal Aisthesis, based at the Institute of Aesthetics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, seeks to promote the development of aesthetic knowledge through the issuing of unpublished scientific texts that contribute, due to their originality, to the discipline’s different strands and trends as well as having a strong Latin American perspective. Indeed, although philosophy continues to be its main genealogical referent, the field of aesthetics has become today an interdisciplinary science that seeks support from and reach a wide spectrum within the humanities and social sciences, from form as materialization of sense, the great expressive powers of culture and, in general, the totality of its instances of symbolic production.
The journal Aisthesis holds a permanent open call – during the months of April and December – for the publication of two annual issues (June and October), and encourages a scientific dialogue of the highest national and international level through its four sections: articles, dossier, interviews, and book reviews. The journal accepts submissions in Spanish, English or Portuguese.
