Abstract

The study presented in this article, carried out in the beginning of March 2020, that is, before the declaration of an emergency in the city of São Paulo, under the USP Global Cities Program of the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of São Paulo, aimed at proposing tactical actions and strategies to contain the spread of the new Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the territory of the city, through the application of the Methodology in Projective Strategies – MEP. Based on this macro reading, we chose the Favela de Paraisópolis, located in the Capão Redondo sector, to simulate scenarios and develop possible epidemic containment strategies for Covid-19. This territory was chosen due to the characteristics of its population, its demands and its connectivity with the rest of the city of São Paulo. To contain an epidemic, it is essential to subvert the relationship between the reaction time and the containment actions supported by the territory. Given the special situation of social vulnerability, it is important that the territory is prepared for emergency action, by preparing a study on local public health needs.
