Geographical Gallery of Chile

Abstract

With the present study , we have the honour to initiate in the Revista de Geografía Norte Grande, a Series wich main objective is to recall the founders and early promoters of geographic thoughr in Chile. Because of space constraints, it will not be possible to bring a detailed account on each person tnvolved.

However, the intention is to offer the main highlights to allow the rider to place the text content in a historical perspective, without missing the empirical aspect of it. It is hoped the information we provide in this first paper will be of some help to scholars interested in Geography , Moreover, we would feel pleased if in the near future, the Series becomes a sort of stimulation to write a History of Chilean Geography.
