Urban renewal and residential satisfaction in the San Borja Remodeling: Implications for the design of policies and urban development urban development strategies.

The San Borja Project represents one of the most important attempts in urban renewal, carried out in Chile and Latin America. The main purpose of this research was to assess levels ofresidential satisfaction among the residents, in order to dimension the feasibility to promote this type 01 urban renewal activity in the central areas of Santiago, which are affected by a gradual deterioration process. The results reveal relatively high leveIs ofresidential satisfaction, ratifying therefore the validity of this kind of initiatives. The study also allowed to detect differences in residential satislaction among the towers, according to their relative location in regard to the distinct surroundings.
