Retrospective. Literary criticism in the 60’s and the cultural columns of Marcha
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to summarize the conclusions of a discursive analysis of the weekly paper Marcha (Uruguay) during my postdoctoral work. A conscientious reading of the paper reveals literary criticism in 1960, present in the cultural columns, marked by the problems of marginal cultures and the consecration of «classic» authors. In this respect, two texts have been chosen to study Latin Americanism, the force of which was due to the revolutionary marks at the time. Carlos Martínez Moreno and Real de Azúa question the place of Latin American culture in occidental culture and propose several ways of approaching authors and books. The strategies observed show how the Marcha pedagogy was undertaken in order to educate readers, mainly comprised by the young middle class.
